Zombies stories are one of those things I know I should stay away from but I just can't. Usually it's only the movies that give me nightmares - this book managed to do it. So for a zombie movie to get under my skin like this...it definitely deserves five stars.

From the beginning, the outbreak starts oddly, for this is definitely a unique and intriguing take on zombies. The hints of conspiracy and the unusual effects of the zombie pathogen on different people reminds me a little of Resident Evil - but only in the same way that a bottle of red wine might remind me of raspberries or chocolate. Sigrist has taken a cool concept and run with it, with his story certainly catching me along the way.

Better yet, he included the perspectives of some of the infected - something I've rarely seen in zombie books - and he does it well.

One thing I liked was that two of his protagonists are a gay couple and the men in question don't harp on it in the story. They're simply together and it's a part of the story, without any angst over who they are from their perspective or anyone else's. The plot (and I won't spoil it) is about how the dwindling number of protagonists survive the zombie apocalypse, where the humans can be as dangerous as the zombies.

Well worth a read (particularly if you don't get nightmares, like I did) and I'll be looking out for the next book in the series.

First Light The Zombie Prophecies Volume 1 Adam Sigrist 9781939897022 Books Reviews

I love zombie books and read them endlessly. I never quite understood what was happening in this book, nor did I care. Spoiler- for example, what kind of mother wouldn't fight to the death to find her daughter in a zombie apocalypse? I certainly wouldn't hang out at an apartment complex for a few days, then mosey out to see if my kid was alive. The story was disjointed and very confusing. This is one of the few books that I have deleted without finishing.
I love a great zombie narrative but this book really exceeded all of my expectations of the complexity and depth this type of story could contain. The story is packed with a variety of unique characters in often unconventional roles with interesting overlapping relationships. It was easy to connect with the characters. I really felt for them as they fought for their lives in the suspense filled, blood and guts splattered, action sequences. To be honest, even if I didn't care about the characters the action sections would still have been awesome! So awesome!

I definitely plan to snatch up the second book upon it's release.
Can't wait to get get deeper into the Zombie Prophecies series!
I never got to finish the book on Wattpad, but now that it's on I can finish it. From what I've read so far, the story is very unique; not in a bad way. It's an excellent zombie story.
This book is the beginning to an action-packed adventure.
So stupid I could barely get a third of the way through it.
When I had real world stuff to do I had to tear myself away from this book. I was so enthralled in the action that I verbally let out "oh my" no less than 5 times (I didn't keep count so probably a lot more.) Any time I thought I knew where the book was going I was blindsided with something I never would have imagined. My only issue is now I have to wait for the sequel to come out to learn more about the characters journeys and what monster they will face next! I am hoping to see some of the friends and family get reunited but if the sequel is anything like this book it could go either way. If you like action, or zombie/monsters I would recommend you read First Light.
U actually kind of liked the different spun this author put on a regular zombie novel. At times I did get a bit twisted up with all the characters, and how the story jumps between them, but I figured it out. Can't wait to see what happens next!!!
