A beast. A beauty. And an unexpected baby.

When Lilly Graham visits her father in Scotland, she finds the villagers are close to rebellion against the new lord. Disturbed to hear the man has locked himself in his castle with a stash of liquor and guns, she won’t let him hide. She lost a good friend to depression and can’t be party to letting another soul lose the fight and die.

Iain McPherson avoids meeting anyone or any expectations about being a hero. He shouldn’t have been a Royal Marine and he shouldn’t have been given authority to lead. Disaster happened, leaving him a broken man. All he wants is to be left to his drunken self.

But a pesky, persistent lass won’t let him off the hook and no amount of bellowing or baleful threats will drive her away from his castle. Iain can’t escape from the past and he’s no longer sure he wants to escape from the present. Or the lass.

Lord of the Isles is a standalone story with a happily-ever-after ending. It’s part of the fascinating International Billionaires series—books that take well-loved stories and place them in exotic locales. Lord of the Isles International Billionaires VIII The Scots eBook Caro LaFever

Lord of the Isles is the 8th book in the International Billionaires series. I have only read one other book in this series but I like them. I look forward to reading more of them. I didn't like this installment as much as I enjoyed Laird of the Highlands. That being said I did really enjoy Lord of the Isles. It's Iain and Lilly's story. I liked them a lot. They were a sweet couple that had their hurtles to face.

Lilly never wanted to fall in love. The examples she had growing up didn't exactly endorse the forever kind of love. She made sure not to settle down and had a job that kept her traveling. She visits her father and finds out Iain is home and not doing so well. She decided that she was going to take him on as a project. She refused to let him continue to wallow in depression. The more time she spends helping him the more she falls for him. She sees that there is so much more there than a wounded hero. She sees glimpses of who he truly is. He challenges her views on love too. She starts wanting her happily ever after with him. Can she get past all the barriers he has to touch his heart? Will she be able to convince him they are meant to be? Or will she go back to her life the way it was before?

Iain is the local island hero. He fears that he will never live up to their hero worship. He fears that he isn't the man his father wanted him to be. He feels he is damaged and would rather keep to himself than deal with the image others have of him. Then Lilly shows up and breaks down the walls of his self imprisonment. She lightens his life even if she makes changes he doesn't necessarily agree with. Pretty soon the two of them settle into a nice routine. He enjoys her company and he desires to be more than friends...but he doesn't feel worthy of it. He can't help the fact that she has melted his heart. Can he get past things and be with her? Or will he continue to feel unworthy and miss out on true happiness?

I also enjoyed Lilly's father. He was a good man. I liked the relationship between them as well. I liked Lilly a lot because she refused to let Iain wallow. I didn't like some of her actions though. I liked Iain because he was a good man. He really was hero even though he couldn't see it. I felt bad for him at times. I was very glad that he had Lilly in his life. I will definitely read another book in this series sometime soon.

Lord of the Isles International Billionaires VIII The Scots eBook Caro LaFever Reviews

Such a great novel, Lily visiting her dad in Scotland hears that Ian newly pointed Laird is going thru hard time PTSD from serving in marines and decoded to help him

Ian lost his dad and all his past demon come back to haunt him and decoded to loose himself but with help of lovely Lily might he have a change of heart

I absolutely loved Lily and Ian story.... I kinda reminds of me of a twist of beauty and the beast. I lived seeing Ian being healed by Lily and she also healed too. Great writing by this author . A+++++++
I really liked this story! Damaged man comes home to bury his father after surviving an attack on his royal marine that left everyone else dead. He falls into a deep depression. Along comes Lilly to visit her father. Seeing the island she loves falling apart and hearing the Lord who broke her 10 year old heart was in his castle with alcohol and possibly drugs she goes to investigate to see if he is alright. He's not so she decides to help him even though he is really mean and nasty to her. It's a really good beauty and the beast story set in beautiful Ireland.
I received a copy for an honest review.
This is a story about not giving up on anyone, even if they don’t want to be helped at that time. It is about a wounded soldier who has PTSD. Lily had lost someone before to depression and she vowed not to loss anyone else if she could help it.
Lily Graham was a photographer and she had come home to visit her father. The Lord of the Isles, Iain McPherson was trying to drown his depression in whiskey, but cheerful Lily wouldn’t let him. Then after sometime, Lily left and Iain finally get things together and the Isles were growing again and people were happy. The ending will take you by surprise, so set down with a cup of coffee and enjoy.
A boy from the past in Lilly's life is in trouble. Despite the fact the fact that he hurt her when they were still young, Lilly just can't help the sense of responsibility she has to go help. A friend was going through turmoil and she didn't do anything about it and that friend later killed themselves. She was not about to let that happen to anybody else, not under her watch. Iain is going through hell because of things that went wrong during his watch in the war. His men, including his cousin died as a result of his decisions. A beautiful love enfolds in Lilly's quest to help Iain. She tries to hold her love in check because what Iain needs is not a woman to through herself at him, he needs friendship and loads of healing. She failed, they end up in each others arms and bed over and over. Lovely ending! Caro has done it again, went through 8 of her love stories in a very short space of time and enjoyed each one! I must say her main characters have got no place for birth control😁
Miss Lilly Graham close friend committed suicide. She felt terrible guilt because she thought she could had helped him if she had paid attention to his depression. While visiting her dad she was aware that there were serious problems and the Lord of the Isles, the Royal Maine Hero, was isolated and drinking himself into oblivion in his castle. He was depressed! Remembering her friend, she decided to take action. But Iain McPherson had serious demons that tormented his nights and were destroying his will. Guilt for bad past decisions had wrapped around him and he thought of himself damage beyond repair. He had lived for his da’s happiness not been himself anymore and truly affected by that. Lilly Graham felt out of place with her family, a disappointment but she was a strong, decided, adventurous and resourceful woman. She took the bull by the horns and went to save the Lord of the Isles. Iain McPherson was a hard nut to crack and Lilly was in need of all her will power to deal with the damage man. What a struggle! Lilly was a champion! Loved her strength and dynamism. Very good character. Iain and Lilly’s bickering was amusing and I enjoyed the good moments that were full of emotions. Good HEA.
