DoOvers An Irish Story Robin Rice 9781484002599 Books

I have enjoyed Robin Rice's work before, including "A Hundred Ways to Sunday" and "Venus for a Day." She is one of my favorite thought-provoking mystical fiction writers, and her stories always combine strong woman characters, interesting men, unusual plots and unexpected twists and turns that lead to a deeply satisfying and life-affirming endings. If you haven't read Robin Rice's fiction and you like to believe that life is so much more than most people see it, then this is an author whose work you will want to explore. The story takes place in one of my favorite places, Ireland, and involves an incomplete love story that just might have another chance for a happy ending. I didn't want the book to end, and in a way, it doesn't.

DoOvers An Irish Story Robin Rice 9781484002599 Books Reviews

This book has been moved to my Favourites List - and I am not easily tempted to add a book there. These books, of which Do-Overs by Robin Rice, is now counted amongst them and deserves that place. For readers who enjoy Sarah Addison Allen; MJ Rose; Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay. I was immediately absorbed by the characters and the story as soon as I began the book - not since Guy Gavriel Kay's Fionavar Trilogy - I read the book in two late night sessions. And I wanted more. Ms Rice's writing is tight and beautifully structured (I wasn't stopped by an awkward phrase) and she has demonstrated a strong ability to 'create a scene' so completely that you can smell the fog/rain on the grass. This is not a compliment that I give often. I loved that Ms Rice took the time to fully develop her Dream School ideas (the depth and background alluded to enthralled me) as I found that I was tempted to write her and ask her for the journals of the central character. Her narrative voice was lovely (I felt it sounded like Elizabeth Von Arnim or Pearl S Buck - welcoming and familiar) and I have eagerly added her other works to my wish list. BTW, I am Canadian and only got the app in order to read her work after reading the first chapter(s) on . Who am I? I am a book addict. I read constantly on upwards of 3 different devices, not to mention stacks of books, of all different genres. I have an English degree and enjoy good and badly written work if the ideas are good - sometimes just sharing the idea is a book/novel worth reading!
Robin's work is completely disarming. As with her other works, she leads you to grow in awareness and forgive your fears.
this is an awesome book, I've already read twice and I'm reading again. I feel very connected to the spirituality from all her books, they really resonate with me.
This is a multifaceted love story, evoking feelings of love, laughter, and loss that you just can't put down. The characters and relationships are relatable, introducing the reader to concepts of mythology, dreamology and metaphysics. It brought back fond memories of a prior trip to Ireland, and reflection of the characters in my own life was insightful and prompted my desire to continue personal spiritual development. This book leaves you wanting more, I can't wait to read more from Robin Rice.
Robin Rice spins a magical and powerful story of Transformation, Redemption and Hope. Her writing is deep and compelling. I couldn't recommend any of her books more highly to anyone.
Just like every other Robin Rice book that I've read, I couldn't put it down. It left me with the vow to avoid attachment to outcome ... to leave myself open to all possibilities ... to truly experience living. This is a book that leaves you with soul-searching questions that have the potential to change your life in the most positive way ... IF you're willing to live the questions. Are you ready to soar?
Of all the books to read right after my beautiful Irish mom passed, I randomly found this book through a post on LinkedIn that piqued my interest because I though I knew the author, Robin Rice. Anyway, I do believe that the heavens sent me this wonderful tale to ease my grief, and it did. It is so beautifully written and difficult to put down, so I didn't. I haven't read a book this quickly since when I had to in school!
